Cars, light and tight spaces

Since June 2026 I’ve been photographing and filming vehicles for Xcite Advertising, a national automotive photography company.

The job

• Shoot to a standard. Every vehicle is photographed and filmed to Xcite’s national guidelines, so a car shot in Perth looks like one shot anywhere else in the country.
• Stage the vehicle. I drive and position manual and automatic cars, often in tight spaces, to get clean angles and consistent light.
• Edit and deliver. I edit in Lightroom and Photoshop, then upload the finished photos and video.
• Keep the lot running. That includes timesheets, vehicle reports and lot management.

Why it matters

Repetition at volume is the best training there is. Shooting car after car has taught me to read light quickly, to work fast without losing consistency, and to edit to a brief rather than to taste.
